The draft state budget for 2020 envisages UAH 140 million to support the program on increasing uranium mining in Ukraine,
Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel wrote on Facebook.
“The new investment program provides for the allocation of UAH 140 million to boost domestic uranium mining,” wrote Orzhel.
According to him, investing in uranium mining will help reduce Ukraine’s energy dependency and create additional value.
“We are one of the richest countries in uranium deposits, but we import 60% of the needs for nuclear energy,” the minister added. (Ukrinform/Ukrainian metal)
