The three-month copper price on the London Metal Exchange was slightly lower during morning trading on Tuesday September 10, falling below its nearby $5,800 per tonne support level amid broad complex weakness, while aluminium futures stayed above the $1,800 per tonne threshold.
Volumes traded in copper over the morning have been moderate, topping the complex at around 4,400 lots exchanged as of 9:30am London time. Morning turnover in aluminium ranked second at 2,250 lots exchanged.
Price action in the red metal had remained firmly over the $5,800 per tonne support level overnight, reaching an intra-morning high of $5,847 per tonne, before sliding around 1.2% to hit a low of $5,777 per tonne this morning.
