Ukraine: coal output down in January-July 2019

In January-July Ukraine extracted 17.87 million tons of coal, down by 6.6% YoY.

According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, coking coal output dropped by 8.9%, to 3.299 million tons, and power-generating coal – by 6.1%, to 14.57 million tons.

In July coal output decreased by 4.4%, to 2.529 million tons.

Enterprises subordinate to the ministry in 7 months mined 2.131 million tons of coal, down by 13.8%, including 487.7 thousand tons of coking coal, up by 85%, and 1.643 million tons of power-generating coal, down by 25.5%.

Donetsk region mines in 7 months extracted 6.028 million tons of coal, down by 8.7%, Lugansk – 227.4 thousand tons (-28.3%), Dniepropetrovsk – 10.824 million tons (-3.5%), Lviv – 754 thousand tons (-20.1%) and Volyn region mines – 35.5 thousand tons (-46%). (Ukrainian metal)
