Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) became the winner in the category "Work with Young People" at the 26th industry competition titled "Enterprise of the Mining and Metallurgical Complex with High Social Efficiency."

The competition was based on materials submitted by 50 enterprises from 20 regions of Russia, which comprise 14 metallurgical companies and holdings and which together employ more than 40% of the total number of employees who work in the Russian metals and mining complex. The winners of the industry competition are recommended by the Government of Russia for the title of "Russian Organisation with High Social Efficiency."

The implementation of youth policy has traditionally received significant attention at the plant. Within the framework of MMK’s youth programme, implemented by the Magnitogorsk public youth organisation Union of Young Metallurgists in cooperation with the administration of the enterprise and its trade union committee, active work is being carried out to engage promising young people and consolidate their activities at the plant. The Union of Young Metallurgists is the largest public youth organisation in Magnitogorsk. Apart from volunteers, it currently includes more than 300 employees of MMK Group. In 2018, the company allocated 2.3 million roubles for the implementation of its youth policy. The committed work of the youth group within the framework of the youth program at the plant helps young workers to gain a foothold at the enterprise and contributes to the development of their professional, athletic and creative potential.

The Board of the Association of Industrialists of the mining and metallurgical complex of Russia and the Executive Committee of the Central Council of the Mining and Metallurgical Union of Russia (in coordination with the Department of Metallurgy and Materials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia) oversaw the results of the 26th industry competition "Enterprise of the Mining and Metallurgical Complex with High Social Efficiency." The award ceremony for the winners took place in Moscow within the framework of festive events dedicated to the professional holiday, Day of the Metallurgist.

The Magnitogorsk Metalware and Calibration plant MMK-METIZ (part of the MMK Group) also become one of the winners of the competition in the category of "Healthy and Safe Working Conditions."
