Kyrgyzstan: Altynken employees demand wage increase threatening with hunger strike

Local workers at Altynken held a strike demanding to increase their wages. The information was confirmed by the First Deputy Director of the company Turusbek Akmatov.

At least 5-6 people did not come to lunch a day before in protest against the fact that their wages were not increased. Some other people held a rally with a similar demand.

“There was a misunderstanding. Previously, we gathered representatives of employees, and explained everything to them. But they did not bring the information to the workers. Management of Altynken met with those who organized the rally. They were explained the situation. The conflict is settled. Company is working as usual,” Turusbek Akmatov said.

Altynken LLC was established on April 5, 2006. It is a joint venture of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC (40%) and the Chinese Superb Pacific Limited (60%). The company is developing Taldy-Bulak Levoberezhny deposit. It employs 990 people. (24.kg/Ukrainian metal)
