Ukraine: coal output down in January-October 2018

In January-October Ukraine mined 27.687 million tons of coal, down by 4.1% YoY.

According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, the coking coal output dropped by 11.7%, to 4.908 million tons, and power-generating coal by 2.3%, to 22.779 million tons.

In October coal output grew by 5%, to 2.838 million tons.

In 10 months enterprises managed by the ministry decreased coal output by 13.3%, to 3.454 million tons, including coking coal by 42.8%, to 436 thousand tons, and power-generating coal by 6.3%, to 3.018 million tons.

The Donetsk region mines yielded 9.252 million tons of coal in 10 months, down by 2.6% YoY, Lugansk region – 427.3 thousand tons (-73.3%), Dniepropetrovsk – 16.594 million tons (+1.1%), Lviv – 1.323 million tons (+3.8%) and Volyn region mines – 89.4 thousand tons (+1.9%). (Ukrainian metal)
