The open-air museum of mining equipment has been opened in Kriviy Rih for all citizens and visitors of the city.
Igor Sokol, the Ambassador of Republic of Belarus in Ukraine, and Piotr Parkhomchik, Chief Executive Officer of BelAZ company, came to visit its opening. Paramjit Kahlon, Chief Executive Officer, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih opened the ceremony. Yuriy Vilkul, the City Mayor, heads of the enterprises of the city, veterans and employees of Mining Department of the plant also participated in it.
Paramjit Kahlon: “As one of responsible partners in development of Kriviy Rih city, we feel huge support from the city administration. We have been discussing a possibility of arrangement of an industrial park in our city for a long time. Arrangement of this museum can become the first step to on the way to this dream”.
A display is located on the territory adjacent to the administrative building of Mining Department. 14 display items, which have been previously operated by miners in various subdivisions of the plant, boards with information on activities of Mining Department and the Walk of Fame of its best employees are represented here.
180-ton diesel loco, 45-ton BelAZ dump truck, 14-ton electric loco and even a covered train car, manufactured in 1950s, are represented among main production display items. OBP-1 and OBP-2 provided pumps and separating drum with tub for museum display. A 20-ton truck crane, bed truck, 18-ton crane and other large equipment of the plant and contracting organizations were involved in transportation of display items.
Igor Sokol: “I was very pleased to accept an invitation to participate in opening ceremony of open-air museum. I would like our BelAZ, as one of display items, to become a symbol Belarusian-Ukrainian friendship, our partnership and cooperation. I would also like such display items and symbols of our friendship to be in Ukraine as much as possible”.
Yuriy Vilkul: “Each corner of our city must be beautiful and comfortable. Mining Department of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih made an excellent gift to its birthday and all the citizens. Kriviy Rih is leader in industrial tourism among other cities in Ukraine. This museum is a one more place, where you can learn the history of our region and development of mining industry. I am glad that PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih is one of our main social partners”.
Piotr Parkhomchik: “I gladly welcome all on behalf of BelAZ plant. This year it celebrates 70-year anniversary. And this display item – 40-ton BelAZ dump truck, which has been operating in open pits for many years, – today is young and beautiful again.
