Anthracite, extracted at 11 seized DTEK mines on the Ukraine-uncontrolled territory of Donbass, goes trough Russia to various European Union countries.
“According to our information, up to 2 million tons of coal have been shipped from the occupied areas of Donbass. Polish companies bought some 300 thousand tons”, DTEK CEO Maksim Timchenko declared.
The company has applied to the police on the fact of illegal coal exports.
“We are using every possible way to tell of the situation to the embassies of countries importing anthracite from Donbass. But all we hear is that this is the responsibility of countries-importers, which have to create the systems of coal origin tracking themselves. We are expecting a stronger position from EU”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
