Police officers detained a local council member in Jalal-Abad on the fact of a rally and arson of a gold extraction plant in Toguz-Toro district, Interior Ministry Department for the region reported.
He was detained on suspicion of organizing riots.
“Investigation is underway. The suspect was placed in a pretrial detention center. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of an arrest for two months for him. In total, three people were detained after the unrest in Toguz-Toro district”, the police department reported.
In April residents of Toguz-Toro district held a rally and set the gold mining facilities under construction on fire.
