PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has constructed a new blast-furnace gas pipeline with a length of more than one kilometer valued at UAH 134 million. Now pre-commissioning and adjustment works are at the final stage, as well as ownership transfer, after that the gas pipeline will be commissioned.

New gas pipeline was laid from Blast Furnace No. 9, the biggest one at the plant, to a gas distribution network, by means of which the shops of the plant receive BF gas. The gas pipeline has been mounted on a new single-stage trestle, which has been erected on high supports allowing for motor vehicles passing while going through on-site motor and railroads. The new gas pipeline will allow minimizing the risks of emergency situations in operation and ensuring safe and failure-free gas supply to production assets.

This year a compressed air pipeline has been upgraded at the Oxygen Plant of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih. As a result of this project, the average monthly losses of compressed air during its transportation to BF Shop No. 2 reduced by half. Electric power consumption while compressing air generation at the Air Separation Units greatly reduced that in its turn lead to the cost reduction of the plant products.

Moreover, currently PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih is finishing the construction of a double-deck BF gas collecting main of Blast Furnaces Nos. 7, 8 valued at UAH 62 million. Next year it is planned to lay state-of-the-art pipelines for blast furnace and coke-oven gases from the mentioned collecting main to HPP-2. Due to new facilities, the plant will be able to decommission outdated gas pipeline branches with the length of more than 1.6 kilometers thus increasing energy efficiency and environmental safety of production process. Accordingly, in 2019 PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih will continue upgrading strategic energy infrastructure of the plant. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
