PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih started an active stage of civil works for installation of new equipment of light-section mill No. 250-4. The reconstruction of light-section mill is one of the most extensive at rolling department in the last 20 years. That is one of key projects of the company’s investment program for modernization of production facilities. The total cost of the investment project is $55 million.
Currently PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih produces rebar made of rolled billets (by means of ingot casting and rolling at blooming) with cross-section of 80 mm. As a result of light-section mill reconstruction, the plant will be able to produce rebar from cast billets 150х150 mm produced by continuous casting machine. Designed capacity of the mill after the reconstruction will be 1040 thousand tons of rebar in bars and coils per year. The effect of mill reconstruction will be improvement in quality and production of new types of products, e.g. rebar No. 8-24 in coils (spooler line). The mill will also produce rebar in bundles with the length of up to 14 m packaged with new mechanical packaging line.
A large part of earth and demolition work for foundations and engineer support buildings has been completed on construction site. The excavation of 23,600 cubic meters and demolition of 4,500 cubic meters of reinforced concrete structures have been completed. Armoring of 340 tons and pouring of 2,165 cubic meters of concrete have been done.
Danieli company, which develops detailed engineering and supplies equipment, was earlier selected as a supplier of the main technological equipment. Some part of the new equipment has been already delivered to the warehouse and assembly will start soon.
