According to VIAM CEO Yevgeniy Kablov, Russia experiences the problem of the lithium manufacture.
The only lithium manufacturer in Russia is the Novosibirsk Works of Chemical Concentrates (NZKH), which supplies lithium both to the domestic customers and abroad.
The enterprise started manufacturing lithium in 1960s.
But Russia has no developed raw materials base to produce lithium, thus raw materials are imported from Chile.
NZKH produces some 280-300 tons of lithium per year. 85-90% are exported.
World lithium consumption stands at 75 thousand tons per year, with Russia accounting for 1500 tons. (Ukrainian metal)
