Imported coal deliveries to thermal and combined heat and thermal power plants in January-May grew 2.8-fold YoY, to 2.781 million tons.
According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, in particular Russia supplied 2.013 million tons of coal, or 72.4%, USA – 623.2 thousand tons (22.4%) and South African Republic – 144.8 thousand tons (5.2%).
Such a considerable increase of coal imports has to do with DTEK losing control over its assets on the uncontrolled territory (Sverdlovskantrazit, Rovenkiantrazit and Komsomolets Donbassa”) in March 2017. (Ukrainian metal)
