StalTrans, a subsidiary of the Russian railway operator Freight One, has signed a 467.771-million ruble agreement to buy rail wheels from Interpipe-M, a unit of Ukraine’s Interpipe, Freight One said in a statement.
Interpipe-M is to supply the rail wheels by July.
Freight One also said that it planned to buy rail wheels from StalTrans for no more than 470.11 million rubles before July as well.
An industry source said that there were three major suppliers of railway wheels on the European market – two Russian companies and Interpipe.
“There is a deficit of rail wheels in Russia now, and national producers are unable to satisfy demand of the market,” the source said. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
