A fire raging 500 meters under the ground of the Raspadskaya in the Kemerovo region stopped its operations and forced evacuation of 195 miners, a source in the regional emergency services reported.

“Operations of the mine have been suspended. The systems of ventilation and life support are working normally,” the source said.

In 2010 two methane blasts at the Raspadskaya mine killed 91 people, miners and rescue workers. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
