According to the Ministry of Economy, in 2017 Uzbekistan consumed 4.8 million tons of coal. The needs have been completely covered.
As the coal consumption grows with the increase of the population, a program for coal industry development has been approved. It envisages both new construction and modernization of existing capacities.
Coal output is expected to reach 11.1 million tons by 2021.
The program is estimated at $690.5 million. In particular, Shargunkumir modernization will cost $105.5 million and Angren mine construction – $165 million. Some $175.2 million will be invested in the construction of Niyashbash mine, while Uzbekugol plans to replace outdated machinery valued at $170.2 million. (Ukrainian metal)
