The construction of new steelsmelting capacities by China in the Russian Far East is not only against the Global steel forum ideology, but also against the industry meetings decisions taken in 2016.
“The idea of the Chinese metal makers to create capacities outside of China is the aim of their industry to decrease environment impact”, the Russian Steel Association executive director Alexei Sentyurin said. “This construction will result in the decrease of output at the local enterprises, drop in payments to the budget and, perhaps, the shut down of some mini-mills”.
