Irkutsk Aluminum Works has started shipping the KEP-2 coke to produce baked anodes.

The main customer is Sayanogorsk Aluminum Works (SAZ), which produces baked anodes for its own metal manufacture, as well as for other Rusal works.

So far 38 railroad cars with KEP-2 weighing 2380 tons have been shipped to SAZ.

IrkAZ was able to start producing KEP-2 thanks to modernization of the calcining furnace No. 2. The decision to modernize the furnace was taken in 2015, and investments totaled $23.7 million.

The capacity of the furnace is 72 thousand tons of coke per year. Similar furnaces operate at Bratsk and Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Works. (Ukrainian metal)
