Russia: coal imports from occupied Donbass sharply down

In August Russia exported to Europe some 175 thousand tons of coal, illegally taken from the occupied Lugansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.

According to the Federal Customs Service, exports decreased by 34% MoM, or by 92 thousand tons.

The largest exporter of Ukrainian coal is Gaz-Alyance, controlled by Sergey Kurchenko. In August it exported of 39 thousand tons of anthracite against some 50 thousand tons in July. (Ukrainian metal)
