In January-June Ukraine mined 18.435 million tons of coal, down by 2.9% YoY, or by 556.8 thousand tons.
According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, coking coal output dropped by 24.7%, or by 1.11 million tons, to 3.387 million tons, while that of power-generating coal increased by 3.8%, or by 555.4 thousand tons, to 15.048 million tons.
In June coal mining decreased by 1.8% YoY, or by 47.4 thousand tons, to 2.644 million tons.
The ministry-controlled enterprises mined 2.368 million tons of coal in H1 2017, down by 21.5%, or by 649.4 thousand tons, including 449.9 thousand tons of coking coal, down by 47.6%, and 1.918 million tons of power-generating coal, down by 11.1%.
Donetsk region mines yielded 6.326 million tons of coal, down by 17.2% YoY, Lugansk – 1.514 million tons, down by 21.8%, Dniepropetrovsk – 9.834 million tons, up by 15.9%, Lviv – 705 thousand tons, down by 12.1%, and Volyn region mines – 56.8 thousand tons, down by 48.3%. (Ukrainian metal)
