PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih obtained a patent of Ukraine for elaborated method of practical use of steelmaking by-products in agriculture. Copyright protects the method of steelmaking slag usage as a fertilizer (ameliorant) for deoxidization of acidic soils and increase of harvest level of various agricultural crops.
Development and application of a new method of soils amelioration with the use of steelmaking slag from now on is considered as intellectual property of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, which is confirmed and protected by law. The researches of this soils amelioration method confirmed that technology was effective, unique and gave good economic effect: for agrarians – the fertilization of soils and increase of crop yields, for the company – utilization of steelmaking slags, improvement of environmental condition and additional profit.

This allows us to solve the issue of processing previously deposited steel-smelting slag, a by-product of steel production. During this period the company has received the documents from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, which confirm that this method is safe and allows us to produce and sell such a product.
