According to the previously developed repairs schedule PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has stopped its twin hearth furnace No. 6 (THF-6) of the open-hearth shop.

Due to prolongation of THF-6 exploitation term by 2020 the company elaborated the range of compensating measures, which were being imposed from the beginning of 2017. To minimize fugitive emissions the decision on transferring furnace to once-through mode was adopted. All the works are planned to be performed in two planned repairs. For that, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih additionally allocated nearly UAH 72 million.

Implementation of the project of transferring THF-6 to once-through mode implies two stages, the first one started on April 3, and the second is planned for September-November. The agreements with contracting organizations were concluded, and daily nearly 300 employees of local contractors will work at THF-6 while the repairs last.

PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih is maximally open to the attention of society regarding ecology issues, therefore during the repairs in April the representatives of City Hall, Deputies’ Ecology Commission, NGOs and media will be given an opportunity to visit the shop. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
