The blocking of coal deliveries from the uncontrolled territories of Donbass could result in the necessity to import 9 million tons of anthracite and it’s getting more expensive by 30% on world markets, DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko believes.
“This is a forced necessity for Ukraine to go to foreign markets to buy anthracite. And this means its price will increase by at least 30%”, he said.
According to him, the best obvious alternative to coal from Ukraine-uncontrolled territories is coal from Russia. On the other hand it could result in Russia selling coal mined in the occupied Donbass.
In 2017 DTEK intends to mine 12 million tons of anthracite on uncontrolled territories for the delivery to Ukrainian enterprises. (Ukrainian metal)
