Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works has finished the capital repairs of its heating furnace No. 1 in the 3000 sheet-rolling shop.
According to the company CEO Yuri Zinchenko the overhaul cost 6.5 million UAH.
The repairs saw the replacement of the major part of mechanical equipment: 260 reiters and 16 units of swivel joints.
“We were able to improve the machinery by using refractory and insulating materials produced by RATH. This will allow us to reduce gas usage when heating slabs by 15-20% and decrease heating losses by 50-70%”, he said. “All the repairs have been carried out in time. The heating furnace is ready. Soon it will be put into operation”.
Last year the company invested 1.647 billion UAH into technical modernization.
The works is capable of producing 12 million tons of sinter, 4.3 million tons of pig iron, 3.7 million tons of converter steel and 5 million tons of rolled metal per year. (Ukrainian metal)
