The minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasalik believes, that in 2-2.5 years Ukraine could completely stop using anthracite coal in energy sphere.
According to him, the decision to switch thermal power plants from anthracite to gas-group coal was taken by the ministry after the coal supplies from the uncontrolled territories were stopped in May-June 2016.
In late March – early April the energy block No. 2 of Zmieyv TPP will be switched to the gas-coal, and the block No. 5 – in May-June. This will allow saving some 1.2-1.3 million tons of anthracite coal per year. (Ukrainian metal)
