Russia: coal mining in Kemerovo region in 2016

In 2016 Kemerovo region mined 227.4 million tons of coal, up by 5.4% YoY, including 145.1 million tons from open-pit mines.

Coking coal amounted to 65 million tons, up by 3.3% YoY.

SUEK-Kuzbass increased coal mining by 7.7 million tons, Kiyzassky mine – by 3.9 million tons, Novokuznetsk site of the Raspadskaya Coal Company – by 0.9 million tons.

Processing factories were 81.7% loaded and processed 159.8 million tons of coal, up by 5.6 million tons, producing 73.1 million tons of coal concentrate (up by 2.6 million tons), including 45.5 million tons of coking coal.

Raspadskaya Processing Factory was the leader among processing companies, having processed 11 million tons of coking coal, up by 1.2 million tons YoY.

Coal sales exceeded 188.9 million tons, up by 7.8 million tons, with some 66% exported (up by 8.6 million tons).

2016 saw the fist exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Chile. (Ukrainian metal)
