The sintering shop of Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works produced the 700-millionth ton of sinter.

MMK produced 100 million tons of sinter in 1961, reaching 200 million tons in 1969, 300 million tons in 1977 and 500 million tons in 1996. November 2007 saw the production of the 600-millionth tons of sinter.

The first tons of sinter were produced in 1937, when the first sintering machine was pit into operation.

The second sintering factory was put into operation in 1953, and the third and the fourth – in 1964. In 1991 the first sintering factory was put out of the operation.

Now the shop operates three sintering factories with the combined capacity of 11 million tons of sinter per year. (Ukrainian metal)
