The company’s Let’s Go major volunteer marathon ended with a large-scale environmental event in Moscow’s Losiny Ostrov National Park.
Thousands of Nornickel employees under the Company of Good charity program took part in the environmental event.
The key goal of environmental volunteers was to inculcate the company’s employees with care of the areas where they live and with environmental care.
People indifferent to the nature teamed up to collect garbage, restore order in parks and protected areas, and plant young trees and shrubs.
The large-scale event was held in the main cities of the company’s operations. In August an environmental marathon started in Monchegorsk. It was continued in Norilsk in September. Moscow hosted the final stage of the project, which brought together, among other people, children of the Inspiration children’s home. Together with adults, they improved the wooded area of the national park, attended educational workshops, and received special gifts from the company.
The environmental marathon was also extensively attended and supported by local residents of the cities of Nornickel’s operations.
It is worth noting that, during the Let’s Go environmental campaign, the company also joined the 360 Minutes all-Russia ecological environmental, which recently took place on Lake Baikal. Together with volunteers from various regions of Russia, employees of Norilsk Nickel with the Kola and Norilsk sites, and the Moscow office, cleared the unique lake’s shores of garbage on a compensation-free basis.
The company’s employees are regular participants in the comprehensive environmental volunteer and charity programs aiming at developing the regions and the urban social environment and improve the local quality of life. (Nornickel/Ukrainian metal)
