In accordance with the technological modernization program of the main production equipment Zaporizhstal has finished 3d category overhaul repair with elements of reconstruction and modernization of blast furnace №4 (BF-4). Overhaul repair duration was 30 days; its financing amounted to about 170 million UAH.
During repair works the key attention was paid to the implementation of innovative solutions in furnace cooling system. Evaporative cooling system pumps were completely replaced by more powerful, copper cooling plates from Gongyi company were installed and lined with refractory materials of higher stability, cooling elements were installed. In order to improve operation of BF-4 stack, shotcrete technology of furnace stack was applied. All these solutions will ensure efficient and trouble-free operation of equipment and reduce consumption of coke. Also as part of repair works charging device was replaced and revision of stock house equipment was made. Blast furnace №4 productive capacity is 1112 thousand tons of pig iron per year.
In 2014 a large-scale modernization of BF-4 was carried out. The total investments amounted to about 950 million UAH. During furnace modernization, the modern high-efficiency gas treatment station was installed, which provides the dust concentration of 20 mg/m3 at the output. Since the start up after modernization and till its stop for overhaul repair, blast furnace has produced more than 2 million tons of pig iron. (Zaporizhstal/Ukrainian metal)
