The state mines are in a very difficult situation. First of all they can’t prepare mine takes. Second, miners don’t get their wages in time, and the debts continue to increase.
Finally, there are issues with labor safety. In 2015 there were 2 fatal accidents, as opposed to 9 in H1 2016.
Coal output decreases, while injury rate increases. Mines can’t afford the simplest means of personal protection. Previously the main issue of trade unions and controlling bodies was the salary debt, now it’s the danger of operation in mines.
On August 4, the Ministry of energy and coal industry will hold a meeting with the miners’ trade union and Donetsk, Lugansk, Lviv and Volyn region governors to discuss the situation. (Ukrainian metal)
