On March 7-11 Krasnoarmeyskugol mines spent 12 hours without electricity. This was the result of the 615 million UAH debt to power-generating companies.

The debt has been accumulating for the past 2 years, when the company lost state support. And Krasnoarmeyskugol cannot pay several million UAH for electricity each month.

“In February we consumed 25 million UAH worth of electricity. So the power company asks us to pay at least a half now”, said the company chief engineer Pavel Gusak.

There is little certainty that the company can get so much, so soon it could be left without electricity at all. (Ukrainian metal)
