Ukraine’s government doesn’t think about national economical interests, and the country could turn into a scrap exporter, by disassembling its own works, said Zaporizhstal CEO Rostislav Shurma.

The top-manager was criticizing the decision of the Ministry of economical development and trade to allow scrap exports in 2016 on the level of 1.1 million tons, despite the great shortage of it on the local market.

“Our works can feel it like nobody else. All the last year we have been working with minimal stocks. And early this year the situation worsened. Scrap procurement has fallen 2 times YoY, while the February steel output is up by 25% YoY. When will the government start thinking about the national economy?” said he. (Ukrainian Metal)
