In January scrap deficiency for local consumption totaled 105 thousand tons, or 40% of the volume needed (267 thousand tons).
As of February 1, scrap stocks were on the level of 9 days of consumption against the necessary 20 days. The main reason for the scrap shortage is the low procurement levels. In January Ukraine procured 163 thousand tons of scrap, that’s the lowest result for the last 10 years. 161.5 thousand tons were locally consumed, and 1.5 thousand tons were exported.
