Ukraine: DTEK refutes Demchyshin claims

DTEK denies that it stimulates miner strikes in the Western Ukraine, as claimed by the energy minister Vladimir Demchyshin.

“Ukrainian energy industry has entered the state of the deep crisis, affecting both state and private companies. The way out of this situation is the constructive cooperation of the state and private business with the ministry. Trying to lay the responsibility for the situation in the industry on someone else doesn’t help”, said DTEK in its statement, stressing that electricity output dropped by 14% and coal mining fell by 39% in 2015.

In 2015 DTEK thermal power stations bought more than 580 thousand tons of coal from state mines, with 450 thousand tons from Lviv and Volyn mines. DTEK paid 420 million UAH to Ugol Ukrainy, and still the state debt to DTEK for electricity totals 4.7 billion UAH. (Ukrainian metal)
