Zaporizhstal has received a notification from the energy company Zaporozhyeoblenergo that it plans to stop electricity supplies to the works due to the breach of payment terms as the result of the state VAT debt of 822 million UAH.

Zaporizhstal’s debt for electricity totals some 140 million UAH.

“Our works has been under heavy pressure from the state authorities and monopolies lately. The only reason of our electricity debt is that the state doesn’t return us VAT. But the officials just don’t care. They don’t care about the consequences of this: the works will stop, thousands of employees will lose their jobs, social disorder and industrial accidents may follow. I give my personal word, that the day we receive our VAT debts, we will pay for electricity. We demand from the state to reimburse us our VAT”, said Zaporizhstal CEO Rostislav Shurma.
