Ukraine: coal mining down in January-October 2015

In January-October Ukraine mined 33175.1 thousand tons of ordinary coal, down by 42.1% YoY, or by 24165.3 thousand tons.

According to the Ministry for energy and coal industry, coking coal output fell by 54%, or by 7952.4 thousand tons, to 6753.2 thousand tons, while that of energy-generating coal – by 38%, or by 16212.9 thousand tons, to 26411.9 thousand tons.

The Ministry companies produced 5598.6 thousand tons of coal, down by 65.4%, or by 10586.3 thousand tons YoY, with coking coal down by 61.2%, or by 2600.1 thousand tons, to 1646.8 thousand tons, and energy-generating coal – by 66.9%, or by 7986.2 thousand tons, to 3951.8 thousand tons.

Donetsk region mines in January-October yielded 11887.4 thousand tons of coal, down by 49.4% YoY, Lugansk mines – 3576.1 thousand tons, down by 78.3%, Dniepropetrovsk region – 15833.9 thousand tons, up by 1.3%, Lviv mines – 1672 thousand tons, up by 11.9%, while Volyn mines produced 205.7 thousand tons, down by 15.1% YoY.
