The Ministry for Internal Affairs has started a criminal investigation against the Kurakhovskaya Central Processing Factory, a part of DTEK, as to the illegal processing of coal from small illegal coalmines of the Donetsk region.

According to the investigators, Kurakhovskaya has developed a criminal scheme of mining coal near Ukraine-controlled Stepanovka and Ilyinka. It was then brought to the factory and mixed with the legally mined coal to be sold to companies, state-owned as well. Thus the factory received illegal profits.

A Kiev court has arrested Kurakhovskaya accounts in PUMB (First Ukrainian International Bank). The company filed an appeal, but it was rejected. Now the financial activities of the factory are blocked. (Ukrainian metal)
