The State Safety Service of Ukraine has started the procedure about the illegal disassembly of the Zaporozhye Aluminum Works (ZALK) machinery.
“Investigation is underway, all the people responsible for destruction of the strategic object of the Ukrainian industry are being determined”, said the Service in its statement.
According to the investigation results, from December 2014 to June 2015 machinery worth 100 million UAH was taken from the works.
The Russian Aluminum, the owner of the works, shut down the main smelting capacities in 2011.
After trials the General Prosecutor’s Office returned ZALK to the state ownership in 2014, instead of making the owner fulfill his investment obligations on manufacture development.
The first information about ZALK machinery being cut for scrap and taken from the works appeared in 2013. Russian Aluminum denied this, and the State Safety Service simply didn’t pay attention. (Ukrainian metal)
