Due to the burnout of the blast furnace #1M hearth, Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky will decrease its daily output of pig iron.
The accident took place on July 27, when around 15 tons of pig iron split over 100 square meters. Prior to that three blast furnaces were operating at the works: ##1, 9 and 12. Blast furnace #8 was idle.
“Daily pig iron output before the accident totaled 8 thousand tons, with BF-1M making on average 2.5-2.8 thousand tons”, said a company representative. It would take 10-14 days to restart the operation, plus some time for blowing and bringing the furnace to the project capacity.
“That is, the furnace will not be producing pig iron in industrial volumes for some three weeks”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
