In January-June Ukraine mined 19469.2 thousand tons of ordinary coal, down by 52.2%, or by 21.27 million tons, YoY.
According to a Ministry for energy and coal industry representative, coking coal mining fell by 64%, or by 7197.6 thousand tons, to 4054.9 thousand tons, while that of power-generating coal went down by 47.7%, or by 14072.4 thousand tons, to 15414.3 thousand tons.
The Ministry-controlled mines dropped their output by 72.3%, or by 8955.1 thousand tons, to 3.43 thousand tons, with coking coal down by 68.8%, or by 2269.6 thousand tons, to 1029.8 thousand tons, and power-generating coal – by 73.5%, or by 6685.5 thousand tons, to 2407.2 thousand tons.
In the first half-year of 2015 Donetsk region mines produced 6835.8 thousand tons of coal, down by 61.5% YoY, Lugansk mines – 10941.4 thousand tons, down by 84.6%, Dniepropetrovsk mines – 9514.1 thousand tons, up by 1.9%, Lviv region mines – 1040.7 thousand tons, up by 20.2%, and Volyn mines produced 137.3 thousand tons of coal, down by 0.4% YoY.
