In January Zaporizhstal produced 346 thousand tons of steel, up by 2.7% YoY.
At the same time, pig iron manufacture rose by 15.1%, to 326.5 thousand tons, while rolled metal production went up by 2.1%, to 298.1 thousand tons.
According to the company CEO Rostislav Shurma, Zaporizhstal was one of the few companies in Ukraine to retain and even to increase its output in January.
“At the same time day by day it becomes more and more difficult for us to keep the volumes. Collapse of the Donbass transport infrastructure, difficulties with raw materials supplies from the region, world metal price drop, as well as railroad transportation fees 30% rise negatively affect our work”, said Shurma.
