In the first quarter of 2014 UK-based Ferrexpo plc, owner of the Poltava and Yeristovo mining and processing works (PGOK and EGOK respectively), increased pellets output by 10.4%, to 2.8 million tons.

In particular, in the first quarter the company increased output of pellets of its own raw materials by 9.2%, to 2.7 million tons, and of purchased raw materials – by 55.2%, to 102 thousand tons, YoY.

65% iron content pellets output totaled 1.35 million tons, up by 31% YoY, that with 62% iron content was 1.46 million tons, down by 3.6% YoY.

The company decreased pellets production of the PGOK iron ore by 7%, to 2 million tons YoY. It produced 879.3 thousand tons of 65% iron content pellets, down by 11.5%, and 1.1 million tons of 62% iron content pellets, down by 3.1% YoY.

At the same time, output of pellets made of EGOK iron ore increased by 15.4%, to 707 thousand tons, with 65% iron content pellets output at 372.3 thousand tons, up 9 times YoY, and with 62% iron content pellets output up by 15.9% YoY, to 334.4 thousand tons. (Ukrainian metal)
