The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is not going to impose quotas on imports of coking coal in the first quarter of 2014 as Ukrainian coke plants and companies have undertaken to buy a considerable proportion of coking coal from local state mines.

Ukraine’s government decided to increase quotas on imports of coking coal in 2013 in order to improve the situation in the domestic coal-mining industry and ensure the smooth operation of metallurgical enterprises. At the initiative of the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, quotas up to the end of this year were increased by 1 million tons, from 10.2 million tons to 11.2 million tons.
