In January the crude steel production of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, the Ukrainian subsidiary of the global steel giant ArcelorMittal, totaled 536,500 tons, down by 3.35% YoY.
In addition, in the given month ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih registered a 2.04% decrease YoY in its finished steel output to 469,900 tons, while pig iron production decreased by 1.07% YoY to 473,200 tons.
The company stated that it started the year with a good production performance despite the scarcity of scrap particularly in January which affected production of crude steel and rolled products.
In January the company’s biggest blast furnace underwent scheduled repairs which lasted for three days, while the reheating furnace of its wire rod mill No 1 was revamped in a little over a week. In January capital repair work commenced on its converter No 6 and was expected to last for a period of 10 weeks. (SteelGuru)
