According to the preliminary data, in the first eight months of 2011 Ukraine registered an 11.6% rise YoY in its finished steel product output to 20.33 million tons and an 8% increase in its crude steel output to 23.153 million tons.
In January to August Ukraine saw a 40% increase in its steel pipe production to 1.496 million tons and a 6% growth in its pig iron production to 19.11 million tons. The country’s production of metallurgical coke went up by 7%YoY to 13.03 million tons during the first eight months of 2011.
In its iron ore segment, in January to August Ukraine produced 52.78 million tons of iron ore and 43.58 million tons of iron ore concentrate, up by 3% YoY and 2% YoY respectively. (SteelOrbis)
