In July Ukrainian steelmaker Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works plans to complete the execution of seamless pipe orders prior to the permanent closure of its seamless pipe production facilities.
This decision was taken by the company management in May, citing obsolete equipment and lack of seamless pipe orders, especially from Russian customers after the implementation of antidumping duties.
In July Ilyich plans to produce 500 tons of seamless pipes, five times less compared to June, and to ship around 1,000 tons of seamless pipes including stockpiles.
However, welded pipe production is stable at the mill. Ilyich produced 1,900 tons of welded pipes in June and plans to produce around 2,000 tons of welded pipes in July thanks to strong demand on the domestic market. (SteelOrbis)
