According to preliminary data, in the January-March period Ukraine registered an increase of 11.5% YoY in its finished steel product output to about 7.7 million tons and a 7% rise in its crude steel output to 8.634 million tons.

In the first three months of 2011, Ukraine saw a 2.2% increase in its pig iron production to 7.13 million tons and a 6.4% rise in its coke output to 4.875 million tons. Meanwhile, in January to March, Ukraine’s production of steel pipes went up by 58% YoY to 550,800 tons, while its output of hardware increased by 8.2% YoY to 66,800 tons.
In its iron ore segment, in the three months in question Ukraine mined 19.24 million tons of iron ore, up by 3.4% YoY. Its iron ore concentrate production increased by 4.7% YoY to 15.98 million tons, pellet production went down by 2.6% YoY to 5.303 million tons, while its agglomerate production rose by 2% to 10.154 million tons.
