It is reported that in 2009 the Ukrainian flat steel producer Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works saw its steel product exports fall by 14.72% YoY to 3.123 million tons being affected by the global decline in steel demand.
In 2009 the company exported to 69 countries. With the largest importers of Ilyich steel products being Italy with a share of 15.08% of the company total exports, Turkey with a share of 13.11% and China with a share of 11.66% of total exports.
Ilyich 2009 export deliveries to CIS countries amounted to 176,376 tonnes of steel products: Russia – 96,389 tons, Belarus – 31,423 tons and Azerbaijan – 18,130 tons.
In 2009, Ilyich export deliveries to CIS countries decreased by 43.5% YoY. In particular, the shipments to Russia went down by 48.6% YoY, deliveries to Belarus dropped by 51.9% YoY, but supplies to Armenia increased by 94.5% YoY. (SteelOrbis)
