The Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works is the second Ukrainian enterprise belonging to the Industrial Union of Donbass which has passed the registration according to the international standards, namely ISO 1400 which is the ecological management and OHSAS 18000, the system of labour protection and security management. Earlier, in December 2009 Alchevsk Coking Plant received the certificates.
ISO 14000 provides for the reduction of the environmental impact. In the international practice the ecological management is reviewed solely as a voluntarily applied instrument of reducing the anthropogenic influence on the environment.
OHSAS 18000 is the standard setting the requirements enabling the organization to develop and implement labour protection and security policy in view of legislative requirements.
The Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works, another ISD enterprise, is to pass the certification according to the given standards in the near future. (SteelGuru)
