According to the data issued by metal trading enterprise Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company, in January to February this year Ukraine consumed 764,100 tons of rolled steel products up by 21.8% YoY.


In February 2010 Ukrainian consumption of rolled steel products increased by 2.5% compared to January and by 14% compared to February last year.
In January to February this year the share of imports in the domestic rolled steel product market amounted to 22% YoY up from 8.1% YoY.
During the first two months of the current year the country registered a YoY increase in the consumption of all types of rolled steel products, excluding rebar and channels. At the same time, the biggest YoY increases were seen in the consumption of angles and beams, rising by 78% and 57% respectively.

In January to February this year, Ukraine’s largest consumer of rolled steel was the metal trade sector, the supplies to which amounted to 28.2% of total rolled steel product deliveries, followed by the pipe sector, with its share of overall consumption in the domestic rolled steel market amounting to 25%.
